RWJUH-Hamilton Presented with Health Care Heroes Original Painting from Local Artist Joe Lamattina

HAMILTON, NJ – Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center (RWJUH) Hamilton, 1 Hamilton Health Place, Hamilton, New Jersey, received a multimedia artwork donation, Healthcare Angels, from its creator, New Jersey-based artist Joe LaMattina. This original piece, a tribute to the frontline health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, will be on display in all hospital units for all staff and patients to enjoy before it finds its permanent home in a place of honor in the main hospital building.

During the COVID-19 quarantine in early 2020, LaMattina felt compelled to create something to thank healthcare workers. He says: “Like most people, I found the dedication, dedication to service and bravery of our first responders and all healthcare workers to be exceptional. While some people clapped in their honor each night and some people put up signs and lights, I decided that the least I could do was create a work of art in their honor. ”

“Healthcare Angels” was the work of art that arose out of this desire to recognize those who valiantly care for COVID-19 patients. Richard Freeman, Chief Executive Officer and President of RWJUH Hamilton stated, “This work of art is more than color and material. It is a reflection of the dedication and hard work of our employees during this pandemic. It will inspire our employees for years to come. “
