Our newsletter delivers the local news that you can trust.
(Hamilton, NJ, Jan. 12, 2021) – Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center (RWJUH) Hamilton, 1 Hamilton Health Place, Hamilton, New Jersey, was recently re-accredited by the Joint Commission (TJC) and recertified for stroke, total Hip and knee replacements and spinal surgery.
The Joint Commission is an independent organization that evaluates ongoing efforts to improve patient safety and quality of care in a variety of healthcare facilities. For its reaccreditation, TJC RWJUH assessed Hamilton against performance standards in various dimensions, including emergency management, care environment, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management, and the rights and duties of individuals. These standards are developed in consultation with health professionals and providers, measurement experts and patients and are based on scientific evidence and expert consensus to help health organizations measure, evaluate and improve performance. During the survey review process, survey participants rate an organization against these standards and conduct on-site observations and interviews with staff and patients.
Joan Bercari, MSN, RN, Vice President, Quality and Safety at RWJUH Hamilton, says, “The Joint Commission certification supports our hospital’s mission to excel through quality and service. We continue our efforts to make changes that lead to better patient outcomes through the use of evidence-based tools and a robust process for improving performance. “
Common accreditation standards of the commission are integrated into the daily operations of RWJUH Hamilton. “In preparation for the Joint Commission survey, our team reviews performance standards, tracks data to demonstrate compliance, and communicates areas of opportunity across the company. I take pride in our efforts and dedication to our patients and the community, ”said Bercari.
