Man who was painting home dead after graffiti-related argument on east side
TUCSON (KVOA) – A man is dead after an argument with another man while painting his house on the east side Tuesday night.
According to the Tucson Police Department, 63-year-old Robert M. Norwood was painting the outside of his house when he was approached by another man who believed Norwood was spraying graffiti on the wall.
The officers were sent to the house near Golf Links Road and Calle Yucatan at around 5 p.m. because of a fight between the two men.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they found onlookers trying to help a man who was unresponsive.
Officials say Norwood was pronounced dead at the scene, despite life-saving efforts by officials and the Tucson Fire Department.
John Francis Hodson, 53, was charged with manslaughter. He was sent to Pima County Jail.
Police say Norwood and Hodson wrestled each other to the ground. Witnesses at the scene were able to separate the two men when officers arrived.
