Local children express themselves through painting

PEORIA (HOI) – Children from Peoria’s East Bluff neighborhood have a new way to express themselves.

Children can grab their brushes and walk into an empty building as a canvas.

“They can express how they really feel,” said organizer Lueshand Nunn. “A lot of children don’t get this opportunity. They have to keep things in bottles.”

Each child had a different message to share, and many emphasized the importance of making positive changes in the community.

Nunn started the activity on Monday and said if they don’t want to talk about it, they can paint over it.

She hopes to eventually turn the vacant building into a business run by young people.
