“I Really Love Painting Pictures With Songs”

Olivia Rodrigo is ready to destroy you emotionally with her new song “déjà vu”.

The High School Musical: The Musical: The series star who made the world sob together in their cars by dropping her first single “driver’s license” earlier this year, is releasing her next title on Thursday April 1st. Olivia spoke to Apple Music Zane Lowe about how the song – which was written about a month after she wrote “Driver’s License” – was written.

“I had been writing that line on my phone for a while,” the 17 year old explained. “They say, ‘When she’s with you, do you get déjà vu?’ And so I was in the studio And Who is my producer and main contributor? I think we’re trying to write a sad song or something and it just didn’t come and he says, “What else have you got?” And so I said, “Oh, I wrote that line,” and he really liked it. And so we wrote it together and created this whole world. And I really love to paint pictures with songs. “

After all, the songwriters she admires most are “very specific and lively” in their lyrics, she explained. (Your favorite, Taylor Swiftrecently sent her a present.)

“I’m definitely trying to emulate that,” she said. “Literally I’m going to be in a group of people just staring at the wall. And I just keep thinking of random things or ideas and poems and stuff. And yes, I love to write those things down … Probably 95 percent of the stuff that is written in my note-taking app is just horrible, like most emo stuff of all time, it’s just useless. But there are a few gems in there. “
