Bridge Painting on I-29 Exit 42 at Walcott Begins April 5th
(Fargo, ND) – Starting Monday, the North Dakota Department of Transportation will begin a painting project at Exit 42 of I-29 at the Walcott Interchange Bridge.
This work is part of a series of painting projects along the I-29 corridor designed to prevent corrosion and improve bridge integrity for drivers.
As of the early morning of April 5, motorists can expect the following traffic incidents along I-29 at Walcott Bridge:
- The outer lanes will be closed to both I-29 traffic going north and traffic going south
- The speed will be reduced to 40 miles per hour during the road closure
About a week later, traffic control switches to the inner lanes in both directions. Drivers stay in this traffic pattern for 2-4 weeks.
When you’re done, the crews will move to Exit 54 in Davenport, followed by Exit 56 in Horace and Exit 78 in Argusville. Drivers can expect similar traffic patterns at every location. Work on each exchange takes 2 to 4 weeks to complete, and the entire painting project will be completed by the end of June.
As always, NDDOT urges motorists to always be vigilant, drive carefully and expect delays during active construction.
