Berger offers financial support to painters during the lockdown

Kolkata, April 13th (PTI) Berger Paints India Ltd announced on Monday that it has helped its roughly 20,000 painters across the country cope with the coronavirus crisis through financial assistance as the nationwide lockdown to contain the COVID-19 -The outbreak continues to be extended by two more weeks until the end of April.
The money will help builders’ families find basic necessities and deal with emergencies when their incomes take a hit as all painting activity “stalled with the lockdown,” the company said in a statement .
The painter provides them with an advance payment and the support varies depending on the contractor.
The average grant per contractor is around Rs 5,500, a company official said.
Berger has already started transferring money directly to the bank accounts of contractors affiliated with the company, the official said.
In the first phase of the program, more than 5,000 contractors received funding last week.
“The painters have always been an integral part of the larger Berger family and we feel humble that we can support them in this hour of need,” said the company’s managing director and CEO Abhijit Roy.
He also hoped the government would take steps to resume economic activity by easing restrictions in areas unaffected by the coronavirus pandemic. PTI BSM BDC BDC
