Artists encouraged to join open-air painting event along Susquehanna River | Food + Living

If you love painting outdoors and want to capture beautiful scenery along the Susquehanna River, you might want to step into the Plein Air of River Cities 2021.

The plein-air event is an open (non-judged) competition where artists paint outdoors in designated areas on both sides of the Susquehanna River in York and Lancaster counties.

Registered artists will paint between April 13th and 21st. A virtual orientation for the event will take place on April 12th.

The prizes will be awarded at the end of the “paint-out” phase. The work will be on display from April 23-25 ​​in Studio 264 in the Marietta Community House, 264 W. Market St., Marietta.

A commission of 30% from the sale of works of art goes to the charitable organization Marietta Community House.

Julie Riker, who studied illustration at the Philadelphia University of the Arts and owns her own decorative painting business, will be the judge for the awards. Riker’s paintings have been published in Fine Art Connoisseur and other magazines.

Registration is possible until March 31st for artists aged 18 and over.
