Orchard said the painting is “arguably the best painting by Winston Churchill” and underscores the friendship between Churchill and Roosevelt.

“The gift of the work to Roosevelt underscores the fact that Churchill held the American President so highly valued and points to their joint efforts to lead the Allied Powers to the outcome of World War II.”

Churchill is known for his hobby of painting and created over 500 pictures of different motifs and landscapes. This was addressed in Netflix’s “The Crown” when John played Lithgow Churchill.
